Children of Home of Good Hope entertained with cheerful show
Relaxation is also a welcome contribution!
At the end of April the children of Home of Good Hope (HoGH) were surprised with a real theater show. Made possible by a Dutch ex-commander of KLM, a performance was given by the "Magic Brothers World" who act worldwide for children in disadvantaged situations. It was a resounding success that our HoGH kids of “Monica’s Soup Kitchen” thoroughly enjoyed.
Icing on the cake
Hans Nordsiek, a retired KLM captain is well-known as a "storyteller" on aviation. He also has a big heart for children in developing countries. He "invests" internationally in children and says "I help children to get the best out of themselves". Working on the "Theater / Magic Show Tour 2019 of Magic Brothers World" through Africa, he also ended up in Windhoek in Namibia at Home of Good Hope.
A fantastic gesture from this charity organization.
Even the largest newspaper in Namibia "The Namibian" paid attention to it in the May 3 edition, with a nice photo accompanied by an explanatory text. In addition to the necessary nutritious meal per day, this show was actually the proverbial icing on the cake.
And Hans also enjoyed it, as his own report shows: “The first day, we visited Monica’s Home of Good Hope Project, located in a poor slum. As we have experienced everywhere in Africa, here too the children ran towards us laughing. We would hold our one-hour show for them a few days later further along where their meals are prepared. We gave a taste of our show and the supervisors gave us every opportunity to do so. A group of students from Europe was also present. They teach the children and help with the daily care. The living conditions are very primitive and the daily transport of hundreds of meals is a major burden for Monica and her team. Their dream is their own place. They already have a location in mind, not so far from where they are now. Permits and, of course, money, that is what they are waiting for. After an hour the time was up and we left the children plus the supervisors behind with a big smile. ”
