Students of NHL College Leeuwarden in Namibia
April 19, 2017
Marjet, Inge, Aniek, Veerle and Charlotte, five nursing students at NHL College in Leeuwarden, have been in Namibia since February. The first three weeks they did an internship at the Windhoek Central Hospital. Then a week at Home of Good Hope and from then on in the Katutura hospital. They go to the hospital three days a week and spend two days at Monica's soup kitchen, Home of Good Hope to help with food distribution to the now more than 6oo children who come daily.
Now they are there, they also want to do something for the kids in the nursing field. Many children suffer from a fungus on the head, which could be remedied with cream or shampoo. The biggest problem is that the people in this district cannot afford to pay for it themselves. They would really like to help and support them. Therefore, they recently held a fundraising among friends and acquaintances and managed to raise the target amount completely on their own! They are already busy looking for good ointments and shampoos.
Every Thursday and Friday they go to Home of Good Hope. They have already given information about cough hygiene. In the morning, they also help the children with writing and doing sums.
